Why give to CNE?
Six easy ways to give
For more information

The Centre for the New Europe is financially sustained by donations from foundations, enterprises and individuals like you. But unlike other continental European think tanks, the Centre receives no subsidies or other support from the European Union or member-state governments or political parties. Therefore, every euro of support the Centre receives from you means quite a lot to us.

We share your values. The Centre for the New Europe is an independent think tank based in Brussels and the only one with an avowedly liberal point of view. To learn more about the Centre's philosophy, click here. If you value the liberal ideals we hold dear -- free trade, social tolerance, and economic liberty -- then making a donation to CNE is the way to make sure that your views are heard in the heart of Europe.

We save you time. No lone individual could ever keep track of the myriad proposals of the European Union, some which promise to extend economic liberty and others threaten to strangle it. The Centre, through its events and extensive contacts, keeps abreast of some of the important developments in the European Commission and European Parliament -- and speaks out in favor of economic liberty.

We give you new information. Sponsors receive access to CNE's latest research and analysis. The Centre's latest publications will be mailed to sponsors and the sponsors will be among the first to learn about the Centre's upcoming luncheon and dinner discussions. If you share our ideals, we invite you to help make them a reality by becoming a CNE sponsor.

We save you money. In many member-states and the U.S., the Centre is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization, so often your donations are tax-deductible.

There are six easy ways to donate:

stocks and bonds
American donations

Online Donations
Click here to use our secure Internet donation form.

Donations by Post
Please send a cheque, in euros, made payable to the Centre for the New Europe. Please post to: Tim Evans, President, The Centre for the New Europe, Rue Du Luxembourg 23, B-1000 Brussels, Belgium.

By Fax
Please fax the Centre on 02 506 4009 in Belgium or 00 32 2 506 4009 from outside Belgium. Please remember to state clearly the amount you wish to donate, your credit card number, your credit card expiry date, your name and your address. The Centre accepts Visa, Mastercard and American Express.

Donate by Bank Transfer
By direct payment to CNE's bank account. Donations can be made direct to one of CNE's bank accounts. Please e-mail donations@cne.org for bank transfer details.

Donate Stocks and Bonds
In some parts of the European Union and the U.S., you can claim tax relief on the market value of listed shares and securities at the time of disposal for what they were worth when you acquired them.

If you have owned stock for more than one year, and it has appreciated in value, you may be able to use the current value of the stock as your charitable deduction. If you sell appreciated stock, rather than donating it, you will be required to pay capital gains tax, in most countries, on the appreciated value. Donating the stock to the Centre for the New Europe will let you avoid that result. This may be in addition to capital gains tax relief, so a double benefit is possible.

A gift of stock is easily accomplished through an electronic transfer. Simply request your broker to transfer shares directly to the Centre's account. Please e-mail us for our account details and your broker can quickly and easily transfer the donated securities.

You or your broker should inform the Centre by fax on 00 32 2 506 4009 when the transfer has taken place. This step is very important so that Centre will know to whom the gift of stock should be credited.

American Donations
American friends of the Centre can now receive a reduction in their United States income taxes. CNE-USA is an incorporated 501(c)(3) charitable body in the United States allowing US taxpayers to claim tax relief on charitable donations. CNE-USA is committed to supporting the work of CNE. All cheques, in U.S. dollars, should be made payable to CNE-USA and sent to: The Hon. Daniel Oliver, President, CNE-USA, c/o White House Writers Group, 1030 15th Street, NW, 11th floor, Washington, D.C. 20005, USA.
