Jordana Merran returns to the U.S. to continue studies

BRUSSELS, 08 AUGUST 2008 — Centre for the New Europe bids farewell today to its summer research associate, Jordana Merran. During her time at Brussels' leading free-market think tank, Ms Merran completed a key phase of an upcoming CNE study. For the project, Ms Merran collected and analysed employment data from each of the 27 EU member states.

CNE managing director James Rogers said:

"CNE has been delighted to host such a bright young mind during the summer. Jordana has made a great contribution to our research efforts this summer. We wish her every success in her future endeavours."

In addition to the research project, Ms Merran assisted in planning this November's CNE Liberty Ball (including creation of the publicity poster) and coordinated CNE's book launch for former Economist editor Bill Emmott's "Rivals".

Ms Merran departs for the U.S. on Monday, where she will finish her degree in Economics at Vassar College. Prior to her arrival in Brussels, she spent the academic year as an exchange student at Institut d'Études Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po) in Paris. A French-American, the multilingual Ms Merran is considering working in Europe before likely continuing with graduate studies in the States.
