The
course the Bush Administration charts on the major foreign policy issues
of missile defense, the European Security and Defense Identity, Iraq,
the Balkans, China, and Russia has significant implications for U.S.-Europe
relations. Mr. Kagan will discuss how the Bush Administration will face
these foreign policy challenges, the general direction of American foreign
policy in the coming years, and the impact it will have on U.S.-Europe
relations.

Mr.
Kagan writes an international affairs column for the Washington Post
and is contributing editor at The Weekly Standard and The New Republic.
Mr.
Kagan is also a Senior Associate at the Carnegie Endowment for International
Peace, where he directs the U.S. Leadership Project.
Mr.
Kagan worked in the U.S. Department of State from 1985 to 1988 as a
Deputy for Policy in the Bureau for Inter-American Affairs and as the
principal speechwriter for the U.S. Secretary of State. He has been
a foreign policy adviser to U.S. vice-presidential candidate, Jack Kemp,
and is the author of a number of publications on international affairs.
